Story of the place

The story that remains

The basilica, rebuilt after the earthquake of 1693 to replace the ancient building of old Spaccaforno, now located in the area of the Forza park, is distinguished by the elegance of its interiors, which are decorated in Rococo style by the Palermitan artist Giuseppe Gianforma. Despite the earthquake, the building retains precious works of art, including the "Adoration of the Magi" and the panel of the "Annunciation" from 1550.

Also of great significance is the wooden sculptural group of Christ with the Cross, created by the sculptor Guarino da Noto, which depicts Christ accompanied by two Jews and is particularly venerated during the celebrations of Holy Week.
